Three days before an election, party leader Birgitte Nyborg shakes up her campaign by denouncing her closest ally, sensitive information about the prime ministers shopping expenses lands in the wrong hands, and the rising star of the evening news is shaken by an unexpected death.

A year has passed since we last saw Prime Minister Birgitte Nyborg. In the season opener, Birgitte is visiting soldiers stationed in Afghanistan when their encampment is attacked, and several soldiers are killed. Now she must choose: send the troops home or stage a counterattack?

After a successful election, Birgitte Nyborg looks set to become Denmarks first female prime minister, but allies and opponents do their best to block her way.

Birgitte Nyborg is about to negotiate the environmental element of the new reform package, but she must face the reality of parties unwilling to compromise. Kasper convinces her that underhanded tactics can help win her a majority for the reform. Meanwhile, Katrine receives an unusual job offer that tests her personal beliefs. And at home, Birgittes children are clearly affected by their mothers stress; Laura in particular.

The governments agenda on equal opportunities in corporate business brings pressure from the media as well as the countrys most powerful businessman.

6 - Them and Us

Kaspers past returns to haunt him as he clears out his parents former home, whilst the Freedom Party suggest lowering the age of criminal responsibility to 12. A move that reveals fundamental differences in the coalition parties.

An official visit by the president of a former Soviet republic makes headlines when the president demands the arrest of a prominent political activist visiting Denmark at the same time.

7 - What is Lost Inwardly Must Be Gained Outwardly (Part I)

Birgittes government is losing steam -- internal differences are growing and only compromise legislation is being passed. Just as opinion polls indicate Birgitte may lose the next election, financier Joachim Crohne emerges with an idea that could save her political career. But can his motives be trusted? Meanwhile, Kasper and Katrine are growing close again, but their jobs are at odds: Katrines role is to uncover secrets, while Kaspers is to conceal them.

7 - See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

The discovery of illegal surveillance of a left-wing party brings into question the prime ministers friendship with the partys spokeswoman as well as her faith in her own minister of justice.

While the prime minister tries to take a family vacation, the publication of a tell-all by a former politician puts spin doctor Kasper Juul on the edge.

8 - What is Lost Inwardly Must Be Gained Outwardly (Part II)

The eyes of the world are on Copenhagen and Birgitte Nyborg as peace talks draw near between North and South Kharun. Everyone has been working around the clock, and although Kasper is now living with Katrine, they rarely see each other. When Birgitte realizes Denmark is only a small piece in a major international power game, her negotiation skills are put to the test. Can she end the bloody civil war?

9 - Divide and Rule

Allegations of corruption in connection with military spending has consequences even for the prime ministers husband, who has accepted a new job.

9 - The Sanctity of Private Life

Lauras illness has worsened over the past few months, and Birgitte now feels terrible about failing to recognize it. When Lauras psychiatrist suggests admitting her to a private psychiatric hospital, Birgitte and Phillip immediately agree. This move becomes problematic when Birgittes own tax reforms force her to pay out of pocket for the hospital cost. At home, Birgitte and Phillip are rediscovering some of their lost love, despite Philips continued relationship with Cecilie.

10 - The First Tuesday in October

A year after taking office, the prime ministers approval ratings are low, her government is in internal conflict, and her marriage is hanging by a thread. As she prepares for another year in parliament, what can be saved?

10 - An Extraordinary Remark

In the season finale, Birgitte is on a month leave from her post as prime minister to focus on family, and Hans-Christian Thorsen, Labor Party chairman, has positioned himself to be her possible successor. Birgitte is torn about whether or not she will return to work. Meanwhile, as Kasper and Katrine hunt for apartments together, their plan is derailed by an argument about the possibility of having children. Will one of them relent?
